About the Awards

The National Scholastic Junior Musicians Awards are the certified recognition that a middle school performing arts student has satisfied the requirements to be awarded one or both of the proficiency divisions per instrumental and/or vocal discipline set forth for these esteemed awards. The music disciplines recognized in these awards are band, orchestra, and choir. Within each discipline, there are two proficiency divisions each with specific requirements, which when met, result in the awarding of the National Scholastic Junior Musician Award, and the National Scholastic Junior All-Star Musician Award.

Those students who achieve one or both of these awards are in an elite academy of illustrious peers. Specific levels of national recognition are available for each proficiency level earned, including press release copy which may be used in news and social media outlets. Students are encouraged to progress to the National Scholastic Musicians Awards to continue their journey toward excellence and recognition. While being awarded one or all the proficiency level awards within the National Scholastic Junior Musicians Awards is a personal achievement, it is also a nationally recognized mark of achievement that celebrates the commitment to excellence by the middle school student, music department, school district, and most specifically, the commitment and dedication of the school's musical ensemble director(s).
